The year is 1793. The whole of France is suffering under the reign of terror of the Tribunal Révolutionnaire. Not even the innocent are safe from arbitrariness and the sharp blade of the guillotine. In the midst of this turmoil, one man fights against brutality with courage and cunning: The Scarlet Pimpernel!
Together with his followers, the Scarlet Pimpernel saves the innocents sentenced to death by the tribunal. Each time he leaves behind a card with a small pimpernel flower. However, the man behind the mask of the Scarlet Pimpernel, the Englishman Sir Percy Blakeney, must keep his true identity secret.
In The Scarlet Pimpernel, you play as one of the Scarlet Pimpernel's followers and help him in seven missions as he saves innocents from the guillotine. In the last and most important mission you save none other than the young Dauphin, the heir to the French throne. To do this you have to kidnap him to distant Vienna.
The game:
In The Scarlet Pimpernel, players reveal a mission card as the "current mission" in each of the seven rounds. Each mission card displays a location, a required number of supporters, and the resources needed to complete the mission.
As a follower of the Scarlet Pimpernel, you will help carry out the missions by securing the route and location and assisting the Scarlet Pimpernel in obtaining the required number of followers and resources (horses, carts, papers and disguises).
To do this, you cleverly place your dice in the most appropriate places on the field, use your pawn or use “special favors” that you have acquired during the game...
