Preorder - Cat in the Box

Cat in the Box is an extraordinary trick-taking game about quantum mechanics and cats. Similar to Schrödinger's famous thought experiment, the cats on the cards only assume their final state or color when they are played.

At the beginning of each round, players tap Cat in the Box on how many tricks they can win with their hand cards. Then each person takes turns playing a card - whoever played the highest card of the suit played or the trump color red takes the trick. However, the color of the hand card is always determined at the moment it is played. If you "can't" or don't want to play the announced color, you have to change the color, but are then no longer allowed to play the color that was actually required for the rest of the round - so, in a figurative sense, you no longer have any cards of that color in your hand. Each color-number combination may only be played once in the entire game. This is shown on a small game board by the person placing a marker of their color on the corresponding space.

Once all hand cards have been played or a person is in the situation of not being able to play any of their cards (a paradox occurs), the game ends. Points are then awarded for the number of tricks won. In addition, contiguous fields on the game board with their own markers give extra points, but only if the guessed number of tricks has been reached.
