The Patalian Kingdom and its allied Empire of the Knights on the island of Elyrea play an important role in Dragorea's power structure. With a ruling dynasty that can look back on more than 700 years of history, a powerful fleet and seemingly inexhaustible treasuries, Patalis sees itself as the protector of the status quo and rival to the Selenian Empire. But the country's princes don't even have to look beyond their borders to identify opponents, because there is bitter competition among the nobles and the clergy for influence at court and the favor of the royal family. The pre-Christian members of the Knights' Order of the Three Roses withdrew from these power games and made the island of Elyrea their domain. But even on the barren island they are not completely spared from Patal politics.

Patalis is an exciting land full of contradictions. Incredible wealth meets abject poverty. Reputation is considered the highest good, and the Patalians will use any means to maintain it. The cults of Luseria and Vordan fight for influence and power. Merchants seek their place next to the high nobility. Nowhere in Dragorea are there greater opportunities for advancement, nowhere are art, fine crafts and especially theater more valued. And nowhere else can a promising career end overnight in the gutter or in debt bondage.

Life in the island kingdom of Elyrea is much more tranquil. The Order of the Three Roses ensures a simple but safe life on the coasts. The stubborn gnomes that inhabit the interior want to be left alone and are not interested in politics or the order's strict rules.

Patalis and Elyrea is a source volume for the role-playing game Shardmoon. A detailed tour takes the game leader and the player from the coast with its lively trading towns through fertile landscapes and the silver heart of the country to the vast plains of the south or the rough country in Riesheim and the Silver Mountains - through enchanted swamps, cursed forests, scheming aristocratic courts and mystical gardens. A detailed description offers insight into the splendid but dangerous life of the capital Ultia. The volume also takes a look behind the scenes of the royal court with its intrigues and the varied cultural life in the country with its festivals, artists and the infamous and bloody participatory theaters. New training courses such as the spy, expanded rules for reputation and fame and numerous other options offer game material for numerous adventures in the realm of silver.

Life in Patalis is dangerous and exuberant - so let the drama begin!
